Canaries Best Black Magic in Pitching Duel

The Saint Louis Canaries picked up a win at Black Magic Ballpark, courtesy of Lynn Shartz. The left-hander helped his team stop the Birmingham Black Magic, 2-1. Shartz got the win, improving to 4-1. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Earning the save was Pete Giles. He's now cashed in 11 of 16 save opportunities.
Sam Wigware, who is a two-time Great Glove Award winner, had a direct impact on the outcome. Wigware contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fifth inning to put Saint Louis up, 2-0.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Shartz.
The win for the Canaries lifted their record to 39-37.
