Electrics Edged by Black Kings, 4-2
|
Jim Hancock helped his team muscle past the Buffalo Electrics, 4-2. In the game, the New York first baseman was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. William Duncan picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Hamilton Armstrong, who is tied for 8th in the GNL with a 2.59 ERA, was tagged with the loss. With the victory, the Black Kings upped their record to 73-43.
New York used the timely hitting of Charley Bright to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Black Kings on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
After the game, New York manager Walter Dunlap applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
