The New York Black Kings picked up a win at Newman Field, dropping the Cleveland Black Cats, 4-3. Eugene Rowe, who finished 5th in the GNL in strikeouts with 119 last year, was the difference-maker. Rowe yielded 3 runs over 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 6, and struck out 2. His record improves to 11-8. George Augustus earned save number 5 this season.

Tom Snead broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the fourth with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Black Kings in front, 2-1. For the game, Snead drove in one run.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Cleveland manager Bill Pierce. "But we decided not to take it."

New York has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
