Black Rifles Best Nickajacks in Pitching Duel
|
The Richmond Black Rifles claimed a close win over the Chattanooga Nickajacks, due in large part to Wild Dan Johnston. The Richmond right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. Johnston picked up the win for Richmond, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 9-5. Bobby Gay closed it out for his 6th save.
The Black Rifles got a big at-bat from third baseman John Breaux. For the game, Breaux went 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Richmond a 2-1 lead.
"Very good win for our guys," said Breaux.
Richmond now sits at 28-31, while Chattanooga falls to 25-33.
