Floundering Black Cats Lose 6th Straight
|
Cleveland got a valiant performance from pitcher Clarence Byas, but it wasn't enough to beat the New York Black Kings. New York won the game, 3-2. Byas threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. New York reliever Bus Cogdell was the winner. His record is now 6-1. The losing pitcher was Charlie Benjamin. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Black Kings.
The most important at-bat for New York came in the top of the ninth inning, when left fielder Jim Hancock stroked a first pitch cutter to left for a run-scoring single, putting New York up, 3-2.
"I'm just out there trying to have as much fun as I can while I'm playing," Hancock told the New York Citizen.
