Black Kings Win 4-3 Walk-Off
|
Starting pitcher Eugene Rowe pitched well enough to help the New York Black Kings beat the Indianapolis Stars, 4-3. The winner was New York reliever George Augustus, now 4-2. The loser was Ted Rollins. New York occupies first place in the Great Northern Gotham at 63-40.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 3-3, 26-year old first baseman Weldy Princeton won it for New York. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Princeton hit a 2-1 fastball from Ted Rollins for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 4-3 win.
Rowe described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
