New York Loses, 3-1, in 10
|
Philadelphia and New York played a hard-fought contest.
The Philadelphia Keystones had to overcome a good performance from New York pitcher Charles Griggs to claim a 3-1 win at Kings Ballpark. Griggs went 9.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Sad Sam Blanchard collected save number 13.
The Keystones had to work out of trouble with no one out in the bottom of the tenth. The score was 3-1, Philadelphia. But New York, with the bases empty, had mounted a threat. Jim Hancock dug in at the plate. But on a first pitch fastball, Hancock grounded out.
With the victory, the Keystones upped their record to 55-47.
