Stars Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Indianapolis Stars picked up a win at Capitol Field, dropping the Cleveland Black Cats, 4-3. Leon Davis, who finished 3rd in the GNL in ERA with 2.05 last year, was the difference-maker. Calvin Jones, 3-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Indianapolis is now 50-51.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Indianapolis pinch hitter Ed Maxwell, facing Charlie Benjamin, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Stars the 4-3 win.
"I was just taking it batter by batter, just enjoying the moment," said Davis.
