West Stands Out in Pittsburgh Shutout
|
Goose eggs were the order of the day for the New York Black Kings as starter Vic West shut them out, 4-0, at The Race Track. The Pittsburgh pitcher struck out 2 and walked 2 while allowing 3 hits.
"West was good but he wasn't flawless," New York manager Walter Dunlap said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from Pittsburgh, but this is on us."
In the current season in 23 starts, Vic West has a record of 11-12 with 73 strikeouts in 186 innings and a 2.95 ERA.
