One Run Enough for Indianapolis
|
The Brooklyn Cuban Stars were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the Indianapolis Stars and hurler Roosevelt Collins. Collins kept the Cuban Stars confused all game, spinning a 8-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Collins," Brooklyn manager Rufus Horne said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 34-year-old left-hander had 1 walk and 5 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Collins said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
Checking out his stats for the season, Collins has racked up 13 wins and 8 losses in 21 starts, posted a 1.93 ERA, and struck out 70 batters in 182.1 innings.
