The Pittsburgh Rollers picked up a win at Niagara Park, taking down the Buffalo Electrics, 4-2. Starting pitcher Vic West was a big reason why. West yielded 2 runs over 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 4, and struck out 9. His record improves to 7-6. Chuck Taylor closed the door for Pittsburgh, picking up his 5th save of the year.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Leon Hayes? The 1910 Most Valuable Player Award winner Hayes stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Pittsburgh up, 4-2. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
Hayes told a Pittsburgh Bulletin reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
Buffalo, at 35-27, has lost 5 straight.
