The Pittsburgh Rollers withstood a fine game by Indianapolis right fielder Pete Presswood at Capitol Field, to upend the Stars, 6-5. Presswood went 2 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Picking up his 10th save was 38-year old right-handed pitcher Bill Josephs. The first-place Rollers have won 7 straight.

Pittsburgh used a timely hit from Prentice Mathews to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rollers ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"This team is real focused right now," said Pittsburgh manager Johnny Grant.
