Clyde Pope, who is tied for 3rd in the GSL with a 1.81 ERA, was terrific for the Savannah Goobers in his team's 8-1 triumph over the Atlanta Foxes. His performance earned Pope rave reviews. Savannah, at 28-25, is 4½ games up in the Great Southern Dixie.

Lacy Knight helped his team take an early lead with a run-scoring single. It came in the first inning, making the score 1-0, Goobers.

"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Pope.
