Black Kings Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
Starting pitcher Paul Clark gave the New York Black Kings a rock-solid effort. The New Brunswick, New Jersey native helped his team defeat the Philadelphia Keystones, 3-2, at Kings Ballpark. Clark got the win, improving to 8-4. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The Black Kings have an impressive 41-18 record.
Ira Cox drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for New York. With two out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Cox, who is tied for 2nd in the GNL in triples with 10, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Philadelphia hurler Charlie Pointer, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Black Kings a 3-2 lead.
"Coming in, from the get-go, I knew my stuff was good," said Clark.
