Black Kings Rebuff Keystones, 4-2
|
The New York Black Kings got a marvelous performance from pitcher Paul Clark. The right-hander kept the Philadelphia offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-2 New York victory at Keystones Park. The winner was Clark. He threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Leonard Stewart. The save went to Travers Ninchy, his 13th this season.
New York used a well-timed hit by Wendell McCurrine to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Black Kings ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," McCurrine told the New York Citizen.
Philadelphia's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
