Cuban Stars Score 8-4 Win Against Pittsburgh
|
The Brooklyn Cuban Stars picked up a win at Field of the Whales, knocking off the Pittsburgh Rollers, 8-4. Starting pitcher Larry Eagle was a big reason why. Eagle yielded 4 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 1. His record improves to 5-9. The Cuban Stars, at 22-28, inhabit last place in the Great Northern Gotham.
Brooklyn second baseman Lamar Cooper contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup to right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 47th hit of the season and put the Cuban Stars ahead, 4-2.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Cooper.
