Late Rally by Black Cats Locks Up 4-2 Win
|
The Cleveland Black Cats racked up a win at Kings Ballpark, bumping off the New York Black Kings, 4-2. Phillie Brown, who started for Cleveland, pitched effectively for his team. John Gillard earned the save, his 3rd, for the Black Cats. The win elevated the Black Cats to 28-23.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of Greene Boone to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Cats on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Brown told the Cleveland Chronicle.
