Late Heroics Net Black Cats 3-2 Win
|
The Cleveland Black Cats wiggled past the Pittsburgh Rollers, 3-2, in 10 innings at Newman Field. The win was highlighted by the performance of Cleveland pitcher Alphonso Harris. The winner was Cleveland reliever Ormand Trent, now 9-3. The loser was Bill Josephs. After today's action, Cleveland sits at 23-22, while Pittsburgh falls to 25-19.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Cleveland catcher Chester Roberts, facing Bill Josephs, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Black Cats the 3-2 win.
"This place was electric at the end," Roberts said.
