Cleveland parlayed a decent outing from starter Clarence Byas into a solid win over the Pittsburgh Rollers. The final score was 8-4. John Gillard earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record is now 3-1. The Black Cats win now puts them at 22-22.

Had Bob Henderson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Henderson hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Black Cats.

"I can't say enough about Clarence," said Cleveland manager Bill Pierce. "He stepped up when we needed him."
