Electrics Snatch Late-Game, 3-2 Win
|
The Buffalo Electrics earned a close win over the Cleveland Black Cats, thanks in part to Hamilton Armstrong. The Buffalo right-hander, who is tied for 10th in the GNL in complete games with 4, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Armstrong, now 5-5, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Arthur Stewart picked up the save for Buffalo, his 1st of the year.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, Esco Johnson was at the plate when Buffalo scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Electrics to go in front, 3-2.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Johnson. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
The Black Cats, at 20-18, have lost 4 in a row.
