Black Cats Get Clutch Win Versus Brooklyn
|
The Cleveland Black Cats and Brooklyn Cuban Stars put on a pitchers' duel.
The Cleveland Black Cats picked up a win at Field of the Whales, knocking off the Brooklyn Cuban Stars, 2-1, in 15 innings. Starting pitcher Alphonso Harris played a key role in the triumph. The Black Cats, at 17-12, lead by one game in their division.
Though he didn't earn the victory, Harris kept his team in the game until the bullpen took over and the Cleveland offense came through. Over 9 innings, he allowed 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 5.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Harris.
