Black Kings Stay Hot, Beat Electrics, 8-1
|
The New York Black Kings beat the Buffalo Electrics, 8-1, at Kings Ballpark. Starting pitcher Roy Colliers was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Colliers yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-2. The win lifts New York to a record of 9-11.
Ira Cox, who led the GNL in stolen bases with 71 last year, helped out the New York cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the center fielder went 1-4 with a walk.
"Roy did what Roy does," said New York manager Walter Dunlap.
