Pittsburgh Drops Brooklyn, 4-3
|
The Pittsburgh Rollers and Brooklyn Cuban Stars played an entertaining game for Field of the Whales patrons.
Clyde Sutton, who is tied for 10th in the GNL with a 1.99 ERA, propelled his team to victory over the Brooklyn Cuban Stars. The final score was 4-3, Pittsburgh. The Cuban Stars fall to 8-11 and continue their wobbly start to the 1918 season.
In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, Sutton came to the plate. He grounded out, driving in 1 run off Jim Goodwin to put the Rollers in the lead, 1-0.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Sutton.
