The Cleveland Black Cats eked out a 2-1 win versus the Indianapolis Stars at Capitol Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Ormand Trent. He was terrific. The Stars drop to 6-6 and continue their mediocre start to the 1914 season.

Cleveland used a timely hit from George Gill to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Cats ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Cleveland skipper Bill Pierce. "I can't complain."
