Extra-Inning Win by Stars Over Snappers
Cincinnati got a terrific performance from pitcher Hank Moreland, but it wasn't enough to beat the Indianapolis Stars. Indianapolis won the Proving Grounds contest, 6-4. Moreland threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The winner was Indianapolis reliever Tank Burgee, now 1-0. The loser was Saul Gavin. Cincinnati is now 3-5.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the tenth, with the game tied, Fred Malone was at the plate when Indianapolis scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Stars to go in front, 5-4.

In postgame comments, Malone said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
