Stars Win, Now 27-22
|
The Kansas City Stars tallied a win at Goobers Ballpark, throttling the Savannah Goobers, 3-1. Starting pitcher Joe Moore was a big reason for his team's success. Moore yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 8-6. The save went to Kid Good, number 2 for him.
Tied up with the Goobers in the top of the fourth inning, the Stars got a boost from shortstop Henry Leonard. With the bases loaded, Leonard saw a 1-2 cutter from Spec Kyle and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Kansas City on top, 2-0.
"Joe -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Stars manager Al Davis. "He was the key to us winning."
The second-place Stars are 27-22.
