Black Kings Upend Stars, 6-1
|
New York starter R.T. Markham put the Indianapolis offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his knuckle curve in leading the Black Kings to a 6-1 win. New York, now 3-1, is setting the league on fire so far.
In the top of the fifth, New York second baseman Wendell McCurrine had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, McCurrine stroked a 2-run single to left. It made the score 5-1, New York. For the game, he went 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI.
"R.T. is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said New York manager Walter Dunlap.
