Stars Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
Starting pitcher Roosevelt Collins was a major factor in the 1-0 Indianapolis Stars triumph over the New York Black Kings. The win puts Indianapolis at 1-1.
Indianapolis shortstop Alonzo Dean contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 3rd hit of the season and put the Stars ahead, 1-0.
"Makes our job easier," said Dean, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
