The Pittsburgh Rollers ushered in the 1918 season with a win versus the Buffalo Electrics at The Race Track. The final score was 8-1. Starting Pitcher Bill McNeil, who finished 3rd in the GNL in ERA with 2.44 in 1912, had a standout performance.

Pittsburgh catcher Curtis Cooper contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a forkball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 2nd hit of the season and put the Rollers ahead, 3-1.

"Bill set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said Pittsburgh manager Johnny Grant.
