Stars Use Late Score to Top Bears, 4-3
|
The Kansas City Stars did just enough to sneak past the Memphis Bears, 4-3, at Stars Stadium. Kansas City pitcher Joe Moore, in particular, had a standout performance. Moore got the win, improving to 6-3. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 9 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The Bears, at 14-27, have lost 4 in a row.
Martin Cottingham had a productive trip to the plate with one out in the bottom of the third inning. With a runner on 3rd, he hit a sacrifice fly, helping Kansas City to the win.
"Joe was better than good. He was sensational," said Kansas City manager Tommy Ormes.
