Canaries Pull Out Late Win, 2-1
|
The Saint Louis Canaries scored a tight, 2-1 win versus the Richmond Black Rifles at Ballpark of Saint Louis. Saint Louis pitcher Eugene Cooper held his own in the contest. The Canaries, now 20-22, have won 6 in a row.
Ollie Haynes was the walk-off hero for Saint Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Canaries right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Haynes said.
