Stevens Throws 5-Hitter En Route to 6-1 Canaries Win
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Kansas City Stars and Saint Louis Canaries get after it.
Ernest Stevens, who is tied for 5th in the GSL with a 1.04 WHIP, never let the Stars get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his splitter, to pitch the Canaries to a win, 6-1. At 14-21, the Canaries find themselves in last place in the Great Southern Steamboat.
In his 112-pitch effort, Stevens allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 9 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 3.
"I tried to establish all my pitches early," said Stevens.
