With 6-1 Win, Stars Improve to 21-11
Kansas City starter Wild Dan Johnston put a stranglehold on the Savannah offense. The right-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Stars to a 6-1 win. In 9 innings, Johnston surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Kansas City is now 21-11, 7½ games up in the Great Southern Steamboat.

The game could have flipped with no one out in the bottom of the eighth. But Wild Dan Johnston made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 2nd and Savannah trailing 5-1, Johnston threw a fastball to Tenny Thorpe and Thorpe hit into a double play.
