Goobers Victors, 6-3, at Kansas City
|
The Savannah Goobers picked up a win at Stars Stadium, knocking off the Kansas City Stars, 6-3. Starting pitcher Clyde Pope was a big reason why. Pope got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 7 hits and walked 0 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Danforth Hartley picked up his 1st save of the season.
Albert Miles had a clutch at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for the Goobers. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Savannah trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Miles told the Savannah News.
The Goobers raised their record to 2-1.
