In the 7-6 London win over Manhattan, the impact of Layne Cardinal was substantial. Cardinal, who is tied for 5th in the HDL in extra base hits with 12, went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win went to Drew Graham in relief, making him now 1-1. Mike Rice took the loss for Manhattan. The Mobsters drop to 9-16.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With London trailing 6-5, Cardinal hit a sinker from Mike Rice for a 2-run double. In the blink of an eye, the Clash had a walk-off win.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Cardinal told the London Times.
