Avalon pitcher Bobby Cerruto had a large part in his team subduing the Manhattan Mobsters, 9-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Avalon reliever Bobby Cerruto got the win, raising his record to 15-8. Joe Willis was tagged with the loss. Avalon, at 89-53, is 4 games up in the Bob Uecker League North Division.

Jack Carter had a big 3-run home run for the Flying Aces in the top of the sixth inning. With Avalon leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a slider from former first round draft pick Joe Willis and punished it. The result was his 22nd home run of the season, which put the Flying Aces on top, 6-0.

"We were able to put some runs on the board," said Cerruto after the game.
