Storm Shut Out Smokies, 9-0
Gulf Coast Storm starter Ben Hagen pitched a strong game against the Knoxville Smokies at Stormfront Park, leading the Storm to victory, 9-0. The last-place Smokies have lost 5 straight games.

Toby Simmons had a big 3-run home run for the Storm in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Gulf Coast leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Dan Evans and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Storm on top, 4-0.

"We were able to put some runs on the board," said Hagen after the game.
