R.J. Gillings, who is tied for 6th in the BUL with a 9.9 K/9 rate, never let the Absolutely Free get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Invaders to a win, 5-1. Roswell reliever R.J. Gillings got the win, raising his record to 12-2. Ronnie Morrell was tagged with the loss. With the win, the Invaders hiked their record to 70-60.
Dan Dooman had a big 3-run home run for the Invaders in the top of the second inning. With Roswell leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a changeup from Ronnie Morrell, who is tied for 7th in the BUL in strikeouts with 175, and punished it. The result was his 12th home run of the season, which put the Invaders on top, 5-0.
"R.J.'s stuff looked really, really crisp," said Jeff P., the Invaders manager.
