Piron goes 3-for-5 in Bulldogs Win
|
The home team was supported by a raucous crowd at The Doghouse.
Jhonny Piron powered the Hemet Bulldogs to a win over the Yuntech Fly Fisherman. The final score was 9-3. The Hemet designated hitter, who finished 2nd in the BUL in runs with 109 in 2027, was a force to be reckoned with. He banged out 3 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 2 doubles. The win was credited to 34-year old left-handed pitcher Jhordany Mezquita in relief. His record improves to 7-5. B.J. Noga took the loss.
With Hemet leading 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Piron hit a slider from Darren McCaughan for a bases-clearing double. It was his 8th double of the season and put the Bulldogs ahead, 7-2.
"Solid performance from our side," said Bulldogs manager Steven Luker.
The 'W' lifts Hemet's record to 64-66.
