9 Straight Wins for Heron
|
The Great Blue Heron handed the Tampa Rattlers a loss at The Snake Pit. The final score was 5-3 in 12 innings. Dusty Bernard was one of the major contributors for Great Blue. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 1. Jonathan Bast earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 4-1. Dan Aylor notched his 3rd save in 4 chances.
Great Blue needed the clutch hitting of Vicente Esparza to seal the deal. The catcher swatted a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Heron on top, 4-3. For the game, Esparza had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said Bernard.
Great Blue leads the Harry Doyle League Central Division by 7 games.
