Slumping Hawks Lose 6th Straight
|
Tuah pitcher Dan Gifford gave the Rockets all they could handle, but in the end, Puerto Rico left The Thing at Lovense Field with a win, 2-1. Gifford allowed no runs on 3 hits over 5.2 innings. Tuah, at 15-26, has lost 6 straight.
Nelson Valenzuela came through with a big-time hit for Puerto Rico. The second baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Valenzuela told the Puerto Rico Today.
