Diekman Goes 5-for-5 Saturday, May 30th , 2043 The Inland Empire 66ers stopped the Visalia Rawhide by a score of 7-2 at Recreation Park, with the lion's share of the credit going to shortstop Jim Diekman. The 23-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Diekman said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Diekman did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Rawhide. "Not much that I can say," offered Visalia manager L.J. Hollins. "He just hammered the heck out of us." Jim Diekman singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 8th. Diekman on the season is hitting .317 with 1 home run. His stats include 19 RBIs and 14 runs scored. |
