The Chicago White Sox racked up a win at Guaranteed Rate Field, bumping off the Minnesota Twins, 3-1, in 11 innings. Franklin Marmolejo, who started for Chicago, pitched effectively for his team. The win went to Eric Ervin in relief, making him now 1-1. Joe Merritt took the loss for Minnesota. Minnesota drops to 8-10.
Chicago got a knockout punch from Nelson Guillen. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
Marmolejo said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
