Minnesota Defeats Los Angeles, 8-6
|
Los Angeles got a terrific game from right fielder Josh Irwin. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Minnesota, 8-6. Irwin went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch. Tim Satterlee, the winning pitcher, is now 1-2. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 1. Abel Edler picked up the save for Minnesota, his 3rd of the year.
A key moment came with one out in the top of the fifth. That's when Twins center fielder Chris Martin hit a changeup from Steve Bennett for a grand slam home run, putting Minnesota up, 8-1.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Martin, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
Minnesota is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 5th in 17 games.
