Hurley Helps Cincinnati Cruise to 12-3 Win
|
The Cincinnati Reds topped the New York Mets, 12-3, in National League action at Great American Ball Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Cincinnati center fielder Joe Hurley. New York, with the loss, is still a stout 6-1.
With Cincinnati leading 8-3 in the bottom of the eighth, Hurley batted against New York pitcher Bobby Beckwith. Hurley hit a sinker to left-center for a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Reds on top, 11-3.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Hurley, "one at-bat at a time."
