Brewers Beaten By Mets, 8-3
|
The New York Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers by the score of 8-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to shortstop Dan Hammock. Hammock was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Mets on the day. The winning pitcher was Nate Vogel. He's now 1-0. He went 5 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits for the Mets. The loss makes Milwaukee 0-2.
Elias Ibarra had a big 3-run home run for the Mets in the bottom of the third inning. With New York leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a curveball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Xerian Guy and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Mets on top, 4-0.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Ibarra.
