Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Oakland Athletics were eager to watch Eric Brandt square off against Nate Bolla of the visiting Seattle Mariners. In the end, the Athletics won the game, 3-0, with Eric Brandt leading the way. The save went to Eric Bryant, number 1 for him.

Oakland took a 1-0 lead on Tim Gasior's 1st double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Gasior hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Seattle pitcher Andy Arredondo visibly frustrated.

"We had a good game plan," Brandt said, "and we were able to execute it."
