Astros Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
Arizona pitcher Ramon Carrillo gave the Astros all they could handle, but in the end, Houston left Minute Maid Park with a win, 2-1. Carrillo allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 7 innings. Reliever Mike Fields picked up the win. His record improves to 5-4. Pete Peterson, who leads the NL in holds with 19, took the loss. Javon Davenport recorded the save, making him 21 for 23.
Houston went up, 2-1, on Jose Salinas's 16th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Salinas hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Arizona pitcher Pete Peterson shaking his head.
"The other side played a good game," said Arizona manager George Dbacks. "You tip your cap to them."
The Astros sit in last place in the American League West Division with a record of 68-74.
