Nationals Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Washington Nationals picked up a win at Truist Park, dropping the Atlanta Braves, 2-1. Jimmy Skidmore, who is tied for 7th in the NL in quality starts with 14, was the difference-maker. Jon Kincaid closed it out for his 7th save. Washington improves to 85-46 with the win. They lead their division by 18 games.
Washington used a well-timed hit by Kevin Thompson to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Nationals ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Thompson said.
