Pirates Down Rangers, 4-1
|
The Texas Rangers went down to defeat to Joe Stovall and his Pittsburgh teammates. The final score was 4-1, Pirates, in 10 innings. Pittsburgh pitcher Edwin Gonzalez got the win, upping his record to 9-4. Chris Davis got the loss. Jared Pagano locked down his 26th save.
Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Raul Arias to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Pirates on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We didn't let this one get away," said Arias.
The third-place Pirates now sit at 58-68.
